The ‘House of Theobald’ paint range is comprised of 80 period colours, 10 tones/shades for each colour group: Reds and Pinks, Yellows, Greens, Aquas, Blues, Darks, Neutrals and Whites.
These 80 colours are shown on paint-brush shape and sized swatches, in celebration of the tool as an enduring and permanent tool of the interior decoration process. Created from a scan of a wooden paint-brush, the swatches add to and enhance the traditional, period aesthetic of the brand through representation of honest materials. Additionally, this ensures all solid colour remains at the end of the swatch.
Each of the 8 colour groups are presented on their own binding ring, allowing focused colour groups to be explored via a functional and considered point of delivery which aids the interior decoration process in regard to the choosing of colours, the creation of schemes, and the matching of paints to other interior features.
The ‘cover’ of each set of colours features the brand’s initial word-mark variation (HofT) and colour group set in brand typeface Tribute OT Roman. The colour names featured on each
individual swatch also uses this typeface.
The swatches are printed on bright white, 160gsm, matt stock for accurate colour and finish representation.
Although I cut out and hole punched each of the 80 individual swatches, plus 10 cover swatches, by hand due to limited availability of the cutting machine, this is how they would be produced
commercially, ensuring every swatch was
absolutely identical in shape.
