Out of its main competitors, HSBC is the only bank to feature a distinct serif typeface to communicate its brand identity. It is also the only bank to make use of the colour red, with both Barclays and RBS opting for tones of blue, and Lloyds using green. Both of these factors make HSBC stand out from its competitors in terms of a distinct style that is unparalleled in the banking sector. These design decisions need to be considered when developing potential logotypes for the rebrand, as maintaining such qualities in the new logotypes will be crucial to the success of the new identity(s).
