Having successfully created what I believe to be a harmonious and cohesive typeface, I then required a name for the bespoke set of letterforms. I wanted a name that, similarly to the visual language, was clear, to-the-point and naturally-fitting. I didn't want to name the typeface "faint," as I believe the letterforms do much more than simply communicate the singular word. The name I have selected for the letterform collection is "fade regular." This name perfectly reflects the aesthetic quality of the visual language, and establishes an immediate connection.
The display typeface fade regular is a bespoke set of lower-case sans-serif letterforms and numerals that exploit perceptive visual theory. Each character is suggested through a dark to light gradient, fading out three-quarters down the letterforms. The unique aesthetic of this typeface relies wholly on the distinct qualities of the upper-sector of the characters, its ascenders and the visual height variations they create. Though legibility is not the typeface's primary concern, each of the letterforms are identifiable and clearly perceived. Rounded edges and corners adorn each of fade regular's characters, making for a soft, stylised visual that is contrasted by the unorthodox aesthetic it provides. The typeface lends itself to compositions in which space is limited, meaning no compromises in featured content should need to be made with these characters in one's typographic arsenal. The unparalleled presence of fade regular is guaranteed to provide a range of points of delivery with a notably stylish and contemporary feel.
