I was able to photograph all the stores I had planned to with few exclusions meaning I have been able to supply myself with a range of options and potential-featuring luxury stores. The images I have collected and their contexts will be an imperative source of design inspiration and will inform the design decisions I make when producing the publication.
Consistencies I found throughout the luxury type featured in London include:
- Use of chrome and/or metallic gold lettering.
- Limited colour, majoritively black or metallic.
- Back-lit lettering.
- Capitalisation of type.
Both the old and new sectors of Bond Street were where luxury and affluence were most prevalent and evident. This street sees high-end stores one after another, sweeping across the entirety of the street. On this street alone is Asprey, Bulgari, Burberry, Chanel, Cartier, Dolce Gabbana, Hermès, Jimmy Choo, Louis Vuitton, Mulberry, Ralph Lauren and Tiffany Co. Bond Street offers an unrivalled mix of history, traditional elegance and modern luxuries.
London undoubtedly offers perhaps the most concentrated selection of elegant, exclusive brands, designer fashions, luxury goods, fine jewels, art and antiques - something I feel provides opportunity for celebration which a publication could provide a means of doing so.
