In preparation for OUGD504, Studio Brief 01, in which the task is to produce a publication that 'celebrates the richness and diversity of type as it is to a specific place,' over the summer it is a requirement to collect and organise photographic and copy content. The content, which is to be collated to feature within a publication entitled 'A-Z: Type in Context,' will consist of 26 photographs, one per each letter of the alphabet, alongside contextual information regarding the photographed type and its setting.
I anticipate the most difficult part of the project will be finding some of the more irregular letters that don't feature as commonly within the english language, such as Q, X, Z etc., however believe with prior planning and considered engagement with the selected environment this difficulty will be eased.
Careful consideration needs to be given when taking the images, ensuring the context of the images is clearly evident and enhancing of the type.
Having discovered through the first year of the course that my passion within graphic design is ultimately hand crafted, luxury pieces - most typically within an editorial setting - I am excited to undertake this project as I hope to be able to tailor my concept to allow for me to take the brief in a luxury direction, however that may be.
